A Cambridgeshire drone firm has clinched a contract to supply drone footage for an award-winning musician’s upcoming video.
Ely Aviation, an independent commercial drone operator that received its PfCO in January, was recently selected to deliver 360VR footage for UK hip-hop artist Harry Shotta.
Ian Titchener, managing director of Ely Aviation, commented: “This was a very interesting project, not least because of the cutting edge technology involved. This job involved a lot of panning and liaison with the local authorities in Southend and also the airport.”
He continued: “We utilised one of our adapted DJI S900 Hexacopters, which had been fitted with a specialist gimbal to provide stabilisation to the camera, which was almost the same size as a football.”
The project was delivered with Ely Aviation’s partner Harry Turner of Vireal Media.
The footage from the project can be seen later this year, in Harry Shotta’s latest release.
Following its commercial launch less than six months ago, Ely Aviation is now offering a new course for UAV beginners.
The six-hour educational course, which covers safe flying locations, take off and landing, emergency procedure management and equipment maintenance, among other aspect, is designed to equip total newcomers to UAV technology with all of the basic skills that they need to be safer drone pilots, and avoid the pitfalls that so often befall those who have never flown before.
