A Lincolnshire police officer has emphasised the importance of forces adopting UAV capabilities after a life-saving mission.
Commercial Drone Professional previously reported that a police UAV played a crucial role in the discovery of a hypothermic man in Lincolnshire, underscoring the growing value of UAVs in emergency situations.
Police officers initiated a search for a man who had left his car after it had overturned on the A16 near Ludborough in the early hours of Sunday February 25.
Knowing that temperatures were near freezing, and that the man was potentially injured, Sergeant Michael Templeman decided to deploy the drone.
With infrared and thermal technology, the drone was able to pick up the location of the man quickly and efficiently.
Sergeant Templeman told Lincolnshire Live: “We have got the technology so let’s use it. It is great to think it is only going to get better.”
He added: “We are in such a great part of the county. I am more enthusiastic now about my job than even when I started. It is my team that makes me look good. It was just another day, although a bit busier.”
