Coverdrone has launched bespoke marine equipment insurance, covering remotely operated vehicles (ROV) and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV).

The insurance provider claims its cover is unique as many other types of insurance can offer marine equipment insurance; however, the majority will exclude equipment whilst being tested, worked upon and whilst in use in water.

Coverdrone is also offering insurance of similar equipment that is used within the marine equipment market which can include renewable energy devices, as well as equipment typically used by the oil and gas industry on platforms or onshore.

It covers equipment worldwide for a period of twelve months.

Andrew Heath, CEO, commented: “It has been a natural development for Coverdrone to enter the Remotely Operated Vehicle market for underwater ‘drones’.  Their potential is huge, and as we have seen in the aviation world with a new breed of operator entering the market, the same can be said for the marine industry.”

Adding: “We have teamed up with a market leading underwriter to offer a first class product and we are excited to see this develop alongside our core aviation product.”
