AV8 makes EASA drone courses available to emergency services on not-for-profit basis

AV8 has made its General VLOS Certificate (GVC) conversion drone course available on a not-for-profit basis to anyone who flies drones for the emergency services.

The course, which includes both the GVC and A2 Certificate of Competence (A2 CofC), is part of the UK’s adoption of a harmonised European framework for drones.

That harmonisation is set to come into force on November 1, 2020.

Jon Anderson, CEO of AV8, said: “It’s difficult to overstate the contribution made by the women and men of the emergency services; if the past several months has shown us anything, it’s that their dedication and hard work saves lives.”

Adding: “We wanted to contribute in some small way to their continued operation and, with the tremendous success of our EASA courses over the last few weeks, we saw an opportunity to help.”

AV8 are able to support completion of GVC/A2 CofC courses entirely online.

Students study through the company’s virtual learning environment with on-demand access to instructors over Zoom.
