CAA will pay a salary of £55,000 for experienced drone policy specialist

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is recruiting for a drone policy specialist to join its expanding team at Gatwick.

The organisation wants to add another member of staff to its Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Technical Policy Team, which is responsible for developing and providing regulatory oversight of all aspects of aviation policy relating to UASs for the UK.

It will pay the right candidate up to £55,000 per annum dependent on skills and experience.

According to the job description on its website, the role of the policy specialist will be to inform, initiate, support and contribute to ISP programmes, policy development and related work packages by providing specialist knowledge on UAS.

They will also need to ensure that policies are proportionate, in accordance with the Better Regulation Principles, relevant and in line with national and international regulations.

The CAA said it is looking for a specialist with subject matter experience and knowledge in UASs, and in particular their operation. They will also ideally have a wide knowledge of aviation matters with relevant experience and qualifications.

The regulator said it will be holding interviews the week commencing 19 February.
