A new commercial drone operator has officially launched with its first day of trading today having been granted its Permission for Commercial Operations from the CAA yesterday.
Cambridgeshire-based Ely Aviation, which is run by husband and wife team Ian and Rachel Titchener, specialises in aerial-survey, 3D mapping and inspection work.
Commercial Drone Professional spoke to former exhibition worker Ian Titchener today following the company receiving its grant from the CAA.
While the company is in its early stages, the businessman is keen to expand the commercial applications of drone within the coming years. He explained: “We are looking forward to, and we want to find, new applications for the technology.
“That’s the great thing about this industry. People will tell you what they want a drone to do and you see if you can marry what they want with what you can do.”
While his long term ambition is to grow the number of applications, Ian’s more immediate commercial goal is to develop the company over the coming 12 months.
All of the drone operators are all qualified to CAA standards and fully insured.
