Clobotics Holdings has acquired AtSite A/S, making it a subsidiary of the Clobotics Group, in a bid to further the pair’s efforts to develop AI-based offshore wind turbine inspection technology.
This is the latest in an industry-wide move to digitise the global wind O&M market.
Since 2013 AtSite, now renamed Clobotics A/S, has specialised in visual inspection of wind turbine blades, completing jobs worldwide.
Clobotics meanwhile, working from its Seattle and Shanghai offices, uses drones to inspect turbines and then uses its own AI technology to analyse the resulting images.
This, Clobotics says, results in safer, faster and cheaper inspection than other methods.
“Clobotics is an AIoT company — wind turbine inspection and analysis are a perfect application of our technology,” said George Yan, CEO of Clobotics. “The AtSite team’s domain expertise and customer relationships will make our joint product offering more compelling and allow it to scale up faster.”
Meanwhile, AtSite CEO Mads Rasmussen said: “AtSite has always focused on using state-of-the-art technology to help our customers better manage their wind assets.
“As part of Clobotics, we will use their Windspector 3.0 platform to inform customers on the condition of their turbine blades faster, more accurately and at lower cost than ever before.”
