Coverdrone broadens insurance operation with imminent introduction of new app

Digital-based drone insurance firm Coverdrone has announced that its offering of policies is about to broaden as it prepares for the imminent launch of its newly designed app.

The free app, Coverdrone FlySafe, which is designed to meet the demand of UAV operators who only fly a handful of times a year, offers customers the opportunity to insure per day, as opposed to annual policies.

The app delivers accurate safety data, ranging from airspace maps, dynamic restrictions, environmental conditions, privacy and safety hazards and even the location of much of the low-flying manned aviation traffic.

Andrew Heath, director at Coverdrone, said: “We’re delighted to have collaborated with Altitude Angel to offer this value-added service to our customers; it’s another step forward in making life as easy as possible for commercial drone operators to fly safe at all times.”

Ahead of the service’s launch, Commercial Drone Professional spoke to the director. He commented: “It was [designed to meet] demand. We have got all of our annual customers’ feedback. People were using [drones] less frequently, some people were using it once per month.

“I think people who are using [drones] more than once per month are financially better off on an annual policy.”

The launch of the per-day service marks the firm’s entry into the recreational market. The new insurance app will be available to both commercial and recreational users.
