Coverdrone ‘determined’ to offer best-of-its-kind app with bumper investment

Pay-as-you fly drone insurance provider Coverdrone has announced plans to cash in on its successful app launch.

The Coverdrone FlySafe is a free app designed to meet the demands of UAV operators who don’t fly enough to warrant a full year’s warranty and offers customers the opportunity to insure per day, as opposed to annual policies.

The app delivers accurate safety data, ranging from airspace maps, dynamic restrictions, environmental conditions, privacy and safety hazards and even the location of much of the low-flying manned aviation traffic.

Following the app’s launch, which is available for commercial users as well as hobbyists, the company’s director Andrew Heath told Commercial Drone Professional that the new service has been well received by the industry.

“There is no doubt it has been well received and some would say it’s been a long time coming, so it’s nice to be able to finally deliver and meet some client’s expectations,” Heath said.

“Commercial users vary in their drone usage, some are dedicated drone operators and so annual cover is still cost effective because of their high usage; but for the commercial guys who only use the drone as a tool to help deliver their other business activities, the per-day product is perfect.”

While the per-day option is available in the UK currently, the company is already working on offering the service across the EU and further afield.

The app was created and launched in partnership with Altitude Angel, a UK-based drone management platform and airspace integration start-up that recently secured an investment deal for £3.2m.

As the company looks to develop its app, it is confident its framework with Altitude Angel will play a vital role in helping it secure a strong position in the market.

Heath concluded: “With the news that our partners in this venture at Altitude Angel have just received a massive investment fund and Coverdrone being the number one drone insurance provider, we are determined to make this the best app of its kind on the market.”
