Derbyshire Police has been making use of its drones to record footage of residents flouting coronavirus lockdown rules.
Peak District walkers in the footage were seemingly oblivious to the lockdown ordered by Prime Minister Boris Johnson this week in response to the coronavirus outbreak.
The police force posted the video to its Twitter account in a bid to shame the walkers.
It also used its number plate recognition technology on walkers’ vehicles and found that some of them had driven over half an hour to get to Curbar Edge in the Peak District.
The Guardian, which contacted the Cabinet Office for clarification, found that the government has not forbidden driving to reach an area where one can take exercise.
This news comes after police were granted powers to issue fines starting at £30 to enforce the lockdown. On Thursday March 26 they were also given the option of using force to make people stay at home.
