DJI Releases New Mavic 3 And Mavic 3 Cine

DJI, the global leader in civilian drone and camera technology announced the long-awaited release of its newest models, Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine.

Camera Upgrades

The Mavic 3 Cine, retailed at $5000 offers unrivalled videography capabilities of Apple ProRes 422 HQ footage at 5.1K up to 50FPS, with a built-in 1TB SSD.

On the other hand, the $2200 Mavic 3 model does not offer ProRes filming or a built-in SSD but it has the same dual-camera system powered by a 4/3 CMOS sensor.

Both models offer 4K filming at up to 120fps with a 24mm lens and an additional hybrid zoom lens capable of 28x digital zoom or 162mm at f/4.4. In focal length.

Battery Life

Both drones can operate for 46 minutes on one charge, a significant upgrade from the Mavic 2’s 31-minute battery and the Mavic Air 2s & 2S, offering 34 and 31 minutes of flight time respectively.

Hasselblad Technology

The new models feature the Hasselblad Natural Color Solution first introduced in DJI’s 2018 models, Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom.

The Hasselblad Natural Colour is an advanced built-in colour profile that offers natural colours straight out of the camera.

Additionally, The Mavic 3 is capable of filming in 10-bit D-log for further colour control in post-production.

Enhanced Flight Capabilities

The Mavic 3 features enhanced flight performance with Omni-directional obstacle sensing technology capable of detecting objects from 200 metres distance.

Moreover, the drone’s new advanced return to home (RTH) technology allows it to take better routes to return to its launching position.

The enhanced tracking technology, ActiveTrack 5.0, features significant improvements in utilising the camera’s visual sensors to track and follow subjects if they go out of frame.

Price And Availability

The Mavic 3 is available in three packages to choose from:

  • The standard version comprises the drone, carrying strap, remote controller, charger, a set of extra propellers, and a joystick for $2200.
  • The Fly More Combo adds two extra batteries, a charging hub, four sets of propellers, a carrying case, and a set of ND filters for $3000.
  • The Cine Premium Combo includes the brand new DJI RC Pro, a smart remote with a built-in screen, and an added set of ND filters for $5000.
