DJM lifts the lid on the raise of UAV-led roof inspections

DJM Aerial Solutions, a Middlesbrough-based commercial drone service provider, has given enterprise clients an industry insight to the benefits of drone-led roof surveying.

The UAV company, which was recently recruited by J Pullans & Sons to carry out an aerial surveillance of a commercial property’s roof condition, has outlined how it is able to retrieve more data by deploying a drone that with a manned inspection.

A spokesperson for the company commented: “This allows the end-user to essentially open the image in full view and zoom in towards each individual tile, gutter or lead flashing strip to establish its condition.

“We also generally pair this service with video and close up inspection of the roof area allowing the client to offset and target any possible defects or damage to the orthomosaic and build up some trend analysis of how best to proceed with any repair work.”

Earlier this year the company commented that thermal imagining extensions, which are expected to be among the biggest trends in the commercial UAV sector throughout 2018, will be widely taken up by companies that work within renewable energy.

Writing on the website, the company said: “Drones with attached thermal Imaging capabilities are currently having a huge impact on the renewable energy industry. Solar farms are currently embracing thermal imaging and drone technology.”
