Betterview, a provider of drone inspection services, has secured a deal with insurance group Munich Re to supply it and its clients with UAV imagery, analysis and reporting.

The deal will also see Munich Re refer other insurance companies to Betterview in the hope that they will invest in its services.

Betterview’s inspection services use drones to take high-resolution images of both residential and commercial properties.

As part of its service it also offers cloud-based software to store and analyse images to support insurers with inspection and claims-adjustment processes.

“We are always looking to collaborate and drive innovation activities with our insurance company clients,” said Tim Brockett, senior vice president of Munich Re.

“Not only are we impressed with Betterview’s technical capabilities, we believe that their commitment to creating value for the insurance industry really sets them apart from their competitors in the drone space, delivering high-level data, analysis and insights into buildings and properties.”

Betterview is a start-up founded in 2014 and to date has inspected more than 15,000 properties for more than 90 clients.

David Lyman and Dave Tobias, co-founders of the company, said: “We are extremely proud that Munich Re selected Betterview as its referral partner.

“With the close of our series seed funding round in September, Betterview is uniquely positioned to meet the evolving needs of Munich Re’s clients.”
