Drone Racing League secures bumper sponsorship deal with watch giant Swatch

The Drone Racing League (DRL) has secured a sponsorship deal with an international watchmaker for the second year on the trot.

Swatch has extended its relationship with DRL, a global leader in professional and high-speed drone racing, which sees unmanned aerial vehicles compete in a series of competitions, to become the title sponsor of the 2018 Tryouts.

The winner of the 2018 Swatch DRL Tryouts will fly as the designated Swatch pilot throughout the 2018 Championship series.

Additional partnership elements include the Swatch Gravity Gate and other in-course, in-game and global marketing initiatives throughout the 2018 DRL season.

“Following our first committed partnership to professional drone racing during this year’s DRL world championship, we are pleased now to be the main partner of Swatch DRL Tryouts,” said Nick Hayek, CEO, Swatch Group.

“This new and unique e-Sport offers a progressive and dynamic environment, blurring the line between the physical and the digital and giving everybody a democratic chance to participate.”

This year’s final took place in London and was broadcast on ESPN, Sky Sports, ProSieben and other top sports broadcast programs across the globe.

The main image shows the newly-launched DRL Simulator, which is billed as the world’s most realistic drone flight and racing simulator. Users can test their drone skills by downloading the simulator.
