Drone Safe Register holds first members’ meeting since Dragons’ Den success

The Drone Safe Register has held its first ever members’ meeting at Harleyford Golf Club in Marlow.

Open free of charge to all of its members, the event brought together a panel of industry experts to discuss the current issues facing the UK drone industry.

Since its successful appearance on Dragons’ Den, the DSR has seen its membership grow and founder Mark Boyt took the opportunity to tell his members what the DSR plans to do in the future, confirming the regional meeting will go on the road across the UK in 2019.

The morning’s talks also included information from Coverdrone on the insurance services they offer, a talk from squadron leader Sam Hodgkinson from the RAF on how the industry should share airpace safely, and a Q&A session with panellists.

Throughout the afternoon, members could then take part in four workshops. The first provided by Mark Boyt on filming tips, the second from Sachin Kapoor on health and safety, the third from Malcolm Davidge about the Scopito Inspection Platform and finally a workshop from Jessops named ‘Hands on Flying.’

Organisers and attendees then took the time to network and learn more about the wider drone community, something which will be offered to members up and down the country when the DSR takes the event to a variety of regions across the UK over the next twelve months.
