Authorities in California turned to a drone when catching a dangerous gun-wielding trespasser.
After breaking into Point Sur Lighthouse, the man fled and was classed as a danger to the public until a UAV was used to locate him.
According to the Monterey Herald, he was quickly arrested and was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
Sean James, the Monterey Sector superintendent for State Parks, praised the use of drones in this type of police work.
He said: “Given the weaponry involved, it was great getting a drone up there. Law enforcement’s always been kind of tricky in Big Sur because there’s not quite enough people from any one agency, so we all tend to work together.”
Drones in police work are becoming more common as the industry continues to progress.
This week in the UK, police in Leicestershire carried out a drone training procedure.
