Drone technology has been called upon to aid the search mission looking for a missing Brit in Guatemala.

According to the BBC, Catherine Shaw, 23, from Witney in Oxfordshire has been missing since March 5 when she was last seen leaving Hotel Mayachik near Lake Atitlan in the early hours.

She was seen leaving the hotel with a puppy which was found over the weekend by Guatemalan police, locals and Britons in the country working together as part of search.

After extensive search for Ms Shaw, the team turned to drone tech to help with their efforts.

Two drones and mapping technology were then used to search wooded areas in the vicinity.

On Sunday a Foreign Office spokeswoman confirmed it was supporting the family of a British woman and were “in contact with the local authorities as they search for her.”
