A Swiss UAV start-up company has expanded into Zurich with the launch of a new technology office.
Dufour Aerospace, which claims it is on a mission to revolutionise mobility by developing electric and hybrid-electric tilt-wing vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft, will open, said it was “clear” Zurich was the right location for the office.
The announcement follows a year in which an increasing amount of the firm’s work and collaboration has been in the Zurich area.
Before now, most of Dufour’s development and testing has taken place at its headquarters in Visp (VS) and the nearby Raron airfield.
Zurich is home to Google’s European engineering hub, and a number of other major technology companies, in addition to being a world leader in drone technology.
Commenting on the new location, Jasmine Kent, CTO, said: “As our close collaborations with ETH and ZHAW have delivered so much value, it was a natural choice for Dufour Aerospace to expand our operations in Zurich.
“We look forward to continuing these collaborations, and attracting world class talent from the Zurich area and beyond.”
