Drone training academy RUSTA has its sights set on expanding its UK operations to build an international presence.
The company, which has its headquarters in Lincolnshire, offers commercial drone training to authorities such as the police, as well as building and agricultural businesses.
RUSTA’s instructors, which all have either military or civil aviation backgrounds provide training across the UK in addition to the company’s digital courses.
Having already provided tutorials on foreign soil, managing director Sion Roberts has found that there are many countries looking for drone tutelage from ex-military instructors.
He told Commercial Drone Professional: “You have got places in the Far East and Middle East where they all like and want Western expertise, certainly if you’re ex-military as well. That has put us in good stead in places like Hong Kong, we have already training in Hong Kong and hoping to go back. We want to push into those areas because it’s very good business it’s interesting work, so that’s where we’re hoping to push a bit more next year.”
At the Commercial UAV Show last month, Roberts was approached by a raft of international business representatives seeking business-to-business drone training in areas such as Kuwait and Israel.
Roberts stepped across to UAV training after a career with the RAF in 2014 and moved the company from Bristol to Lincolnshire to be more central earlier this year.
