Evolve Dynamics, a UK-based drone manufacturer, is looking to expand its premises in the coming weeks in wake of a surge in interest.
Founded around four years ago, the firm which has ten staff based in the UK and some overseas, is targeting Emergency Services with its new SkyMantis drone.
Speaking exclusively to Commercial Drone Professional, Mike Dewhirst, the company’s founder, said that after a lot of research, development and speaking to potential clients, he has seen a spike in positive interest.
Asked about if the expansion was based on success so far, he explained: “Yes, definitely. We have grown quite rapidly and we have had a huge amount of interest in the SkyMantis and in a couple of other modules that we are working on like the tethering unit.”
He continued: “We have quite a strong pipeline of sales and orders coming through and to put it simply, we are running out of space in the current workshop because we have a number of projects going on alongside the assembly and it requires a lot of desk space and a lot of flat surfaces. We just don’t have the room so we are looking to move and expand into somewhere within the next month or so.”
The SkyMantis, which the company says has been a hit so far, has been designed following feedback from potential clientele like police forces and fire brigades.
For example, the RC is not touch screen and the drone is controlled using joy-sticks and large buttons due to feedback which said how a lot of emergency service teams need to operate in gloves.
Dewhirst went on to say that as well as conventional emergency service providers, he has received interest from the likes of anti-poaching teams, wildlife preservation groups and more recently, from the MoD.
