Flirtey will improve drone safety technology with the securing of a new patent that recognises a drone’s capability to detect a flight error and to deploy a parachute accordingly.
This technology, Flirtey said, improves safety by decreasing the risk of a falling drone injuring a person, or causing damage to the costly drone itself.
Flirtey has secured over 25 patents worldwide, including a recent one for an anti-tampering system.
The company aims to “save lives improve lifestyles” with its deliveries, and made history in 2015 with the first FAA-approved drone delivery.
It has its own drone, as well as a takeoff and landing platform and autonomous drone software that can see one operator monitor ten drones.
