Flock, with Centrik, has integrated an operations management platform used by UAV operators and the wider aviation industry in over 100 countries.
Companies using Centrik to plan UAV operations and demonstrate CAA, EASA and ICAO compliance can now securely share data with Flock to automatically align their insurance costs with actual exposure to risk.
Flock explained how connected insurance allows insurers to use data directly from their customers to automatically and invisibly calculate costs based on actual exposure to risk.
It went on to detail how using flight logs from systems like Centrik and combining them with real-time data including weather and building density, Flocks’ risk intelligence engine is able to truly understand the level of risk associated with an individual flight.
The Flock team then works with a panel of global insurance partners to create custom drone insurance policies powered by this risk intelligence.
Commenting on the move, David Hunkin, head of UAS at Centrik said: “We’ve already seen substantial uptake of Centrik in critical UAS sectors, where it has had a demonstrable impact on improving operational efficiency, safety, and excellence.
“This new strategic alliance means drone operators can safely and securely feed in the information recorded on their Centrik system to Flock — which will then be able to provide them with the precise level of cover they require.”
This is the first integration of its kind in the drone industry enabling automatic and invisible underwriting using realtime data.
Ed Leon Klinger, CEO at Flock, added: “Both Centrik and Flock share a vision of the future where unmanned and autonomous aircraft are safely integrated into shared airspace. Our alliance is focused on accelerating this reality.
“Flock’s risk intelligence engine combines real-time data, like weather and building density, with flight logs directly from systems like Centrik to create completely custom UAV insurance policies.
“Together we’re enabling the air mobility companies of the future to align insurance costs with activity while improving safety standards to make further savings. Our connected policies will also automatically expand in line with the growth of their fleet.”
