Former CAA manager to support UK drone pilots with new masterclass

Andrew Hamilton, Director of Operations for Crowded Space Drones and former Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Drone Unit Manager has launched Drone Masterclass, a new CAA-Recognised Assessment Entity (RAE).

Drone Masterclass will provide the CAA-approved General Visual Line of Sight Certificate (GVC) and A2 Certificate of Competency (A2 CofC) courses amongst other non-CAA courses aimed at supporting UK drone pilots of all abilities.

Hamilton said: “Since leaving the CAA, I wanted to be able to improve the learning experience for persons looking to fly drones in UK airspace and provide an additional level of training covering areas that pilots had told me they felt weaker in.

“Over the last six months, myself and the team at Crowded Space Drones have worked with the CAA to become an RAE and today the culmination of that is the launch of Drone Masterclass.

“We are offering two types of courses, CAA Approved GVC and A2 CofC’s, in addition to brand new bespoke courses in areas such as GDPR, Congested Areas and for Spotters & Observers. Our courses can be taken online, 24 hours a day to ensure we suit every learner’s availability to take the course”.

“Drone Masterclass have also entered into agreements with major UK drone service organisations to create a new way for them to deliver their induction training & pilot assessments through our brand new Learner Management System.”
