James Murdoch has made his first move into the drone market after investing into a Norwegian tech firm.
He backed the seed round of UBIQ Aerospace, a company which refers to itself as a “deep tech startup.”
According to a report by Bloomberg, it has raised seed financing from Murdoch’s Lupa Systems and Norwegian tech accelerator NTNU Accel and hopes to introduce new de-icing systems that will aid UAV ops in in cold climates.
Lupa Systems was founded by Murdoch after he parted ways with the family business after it made a $71bn deal to sell assets to the Walt Disney Company.
The terms of the investment were not disclosed.
