A group of leading UK contractors has signed up to the Civil Aviation Authorities new Drone Registration and Education Scheme (DRES) following its launch on November 5.
Balfour Beatty, Caterpillar and Buckingham Group are among a long list of major UK contractors who have signed up to the scheme, Construction Manager Magazine reports.
The new scheme requires operators of drones weighing between 250g and 20kg to pay £9 a year and complete new education.
Other contractors to sign up for the new scheme include Gallagher, Gleeds and Kier.
Those that don’t sign up for the scheme face a fine of up to £1,000 and registration will be mandatory from November 30.
