A man has been charged with flying a drone near Heathrow Airport over the Christmas period.
Named as George Rusu, he was accused of flying his drone within close proximity of the airport on Christmas Eve.
According to a report from the BBC, he was charged with flying a ‘small unmanned aircraft without permission of air traffic control.’
The supposed incident came just three days after Gatwick was shut down and over 1,000 flights were cancelled due to reported drone activity in the area.
Rusu, 38, is expected to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates Court tomorrow.
In a separate incident in January, flight departures at Heathrow were also cancelled due to drone sightings reported by a number of people including police.
