As UAS accountable manager to a network of Police RPAS quadrotor pilots within Hampshire Constabulary and Thames Valley Police, Andy Sparshott is also Counter UAS Lead during significant security sensitive events.
As part of his role, he conducts UAS threat assessments, dynamic risk management, response plans and providing UAS tactical advice to airports, CNI sites and during security sensitive events.
A real forward driver for drones within the force, Sparshott realised the benefits of UAV technology for police work and pushed for the implementation of it within the Hampshire Constabulary.
Inspired by drone policing work across the country, Sparshott met CDP at DJI’s Emergency Services day in Hook earlier this year and detailed just how important he thinks drones can be to help with policing work.
He was keen to show the Hamps team how work done by other forces, such as Lincolnshire Police, can add real value to operations and in the end, save lives. This proof of concept work has proven successful, meaning Sparshott’s work is now operational.
