Kevin Taylor joined the Special Constabulary in 2003 Kevin and is now Chief Pilot of the Lincolnshire Police UAV Unit. Having overall responsibility for the safe delivery of all UAV operations, including all aspects of training and safety standards, Kevin has experience in all operational areas of Police UAV operations and has carried out 100s of live deployments.
He is credited with saving the life of an injured unconscious male following a road traffic collision.
Taylor also works with the UK defence industry in developing autonomous UAVs for the surveying and detection of Landmines, utilising RTK positioning and manufactures software development kits.
He is also an instructor and flight assessor and specialises in the training of military and emergency services personnel.
He sees drones as a vital component of policing in the force in the future: “Without doubt the development in UAV technology has assisted many forces, looking forward with increased endurance, greater durability in weather, and the continued improvements in optics, the role of UAVs within mainstream policing will continue to develop.”
