Paul Lindup is playing a major role in spearheading drone deployment at Network Rail across the country.
He has been working alongside head of Air Ops, Rikke Carmichael, in ensuring drone technology is being deployed to add both value and benefit company-wide, something he has been successful in doing so far.
Paul is responsible for managing the implementation of drone technology and how it safely and successfully integrates with manned aviation. In his job, he is the accountable manager for all operations of drones and how they are to be used over the rail infrastructure.
Drone operation at Network Rail is manoeuvred across a framework of companies which provide UAV coverage across the country, meaning the technology is readily available when needed.
The framework, which gives Network Rail the capability to call on specialist drone service providers, complements the Network Rail in-house team which allows quick and efficient drone tech deployment where and when necessary, something Lindup has played a vital role in shaping during his time at the company.
He also runs his own aerial photography company on a part-time basis.
