Russia begins in-flight testing of small strike drone


Russia has designed what it claims is the first small strike drone.

Named Carnivora, the device is capable of intercepting other drones and using high explosive bombs.

According to state media organisation TASS, the Micran Research and Production Company, the firm which developed the drone are currently putting it through flight trials.

A spokesperson for Micran commented on the move, they said: “This is a small-class strike drone that can take off from unprepared sites and hover for 10-15 hours, as well as respond to threats, for example, mortar fire pockets. This is the first copy of this drone.”

The drone prototype is also undergoing trials in the factory.
