UAVOS has announced the creation of an advanced leaf spring leg for the main landing gear of an unmanned aircraft weighing up to 1200 kg.
The spring leaf is notable for being much stronger, thinner and lighter than fiberglass alternatives by virtue of being made of aircraft carbon prepreg by the high-temperature molding procedure.
The modern material and chassis design ensures that the spring weight is 7kg lighter than fiberglass, and also reduces aerodynamic resistance.

The leaf spring of the main landing gear leg softens the blows that occur when the unmanned aircraft lands or runs over the uneven surface of the runway.
