Two of the UK drone industry’s leading lights have provided an insight into one of the partnerships set to shape the future of the nation’s commercial landscape.
In March 2018, NATS announced a strategic partnership with fast-growing UK-based drone traffic management solutions company Altitude Angel.
The framework has been announced as the companies recognise the ability for drone technologies to support essential tasks, such as emergency health services and organ transport, policing and traffic patrols, and the increasing the pressure to safely manage the airspace.
The companies are both involved in many drone research efforts and projects, with the focus on safely integrating them into the airspace. Both companies are actively involved in SESAR-driven research, and are members of relevant international and regional working groups, such as at the International Civil Aviation
Organisation (ICAO), Global UTM Association (GUTMA), or the standardisation organisation EUROCAE.
A video of a discussion between Andrew Sage, head of drones at NATS and Richard Parker, founder and CEO of Altitude Angel, about what the partnership means for the drone industry and for the UK, can be found below.
