Sony Corporation has unveiled its Airpeak professional drone at the CES 2021 technology expo, which this year takes place completely virtually for the first time ever.
In a video, Sony demonstrated the capabilities of its new Airpeak to the public, ahead of a campaign to target “the high-end professional market”, including media and film making industries.
Sony first announced the Airpeak drone project in November 2020 but details have been kept under wraps until now.
The Japanese corporation revealed that it will launch a new business targeted for professional photography and video production in the spring of 2021.
According to Sony, the Airpeak is “the industry’s smallest class of drone that can be equipped with the Alpha system.”
It said in a statement : “In order to fully support the creativity of video creators, the payload of the drone can be equipped with an Alpha mirrorless camera to capture high quality, full frame aerial photography and video.
“Airpeak, the industry’s smallest class of drone that can be equipped with the Alpha system, is capable of dynamic filming and precise, stable flight, and aims to contribute to the world of entertainment while also pursuing new possibilities for creative expression. “
Sony said it will continue to post project-related information going forward.
Notably, DJI, which is usually a solid fixture at CES, is absent from the expo this year.
