NASA has released a video of it testing Cicada drones as part of data gathering tests for weather forecasts.
The organisation used four larger UAVs, nicknamed hives, to drop more than 100 smaller drones in Virginia.
The small drones, named Cicadas, resemble tiny airplanes and can fit in a hand.

According to a report from CNET, NASA is looking into the drones as a tool for meteorology.
The NASA-tested drones come equipped with temperature, air pressure and wind-speed sensors.
In Febrary, NASA selected the organisations for its final phase of drone UTM demonstrations.
