Zomato has bought TechEagle in a move to carve out a path for food delivery by drone.

According to the Economic Times, Zomato, an Indian-based restaurant search and discovery platform, acquired the tech company for an undisclosed fee.

It hopes the purchase will enable it to bring TechEagle on-board to help create a hub-to-hub delivery network powered by hybrid multi-rotor drones.

He added: “We believe that robots powering the last mile delivery is an inevitable part of the future and hence is going to be a significant area of investment for us.”

Zomato, which is also operational in the UK, went on to say that 65% of its overall revenue is made up of food delivery business, meaning the acquisition will be well equipped to help move the company forward.
